Formed in 1987 by Jeff and Marianne Saulsbury to protect the environment that is most important to you… your home, Saulsbury Environmental remains uniquely qualified to perform testing, consulting, and remediation services for home environmental health hazards including radon gas, lead-based paint, asbestos, and mold. As public awareness and concern toward home environment hazards has increased, so too has the number of opportunists seeking to capitalize on the home environmental testing/remediation industry. Many home inspectors are doing radon and mold testing while and flood cleanup workers and carpet cleaners are now in the business of mold remediation. Very few of these individuals have any degreed level of education beyond high school. A far too common result is that trusting consumers are paying for invalid testing and inadequate treatments and are still left with many questions that their own contractors are unable to answer! Violations of the EPA’s mandatory radon testing procedures occur frequently and can be attributed to home inspectors’ lack of a physics background to understand the radioactive nature of the radon issue and reason for the protocol.

Mold remediation is another area that requires particular caution and due diligence by the consumer. Most mold remeditators have no educational background in microbiology, physiology, chemistry, or toxicology. Currently in Pennsylvania there is no federal, state, or local government licensing, certification, or oversight of the mold industry. As a result, some mold remediation companies display various certifications that were simply purchased via the internet or awarded to the company by a laboratory in exchange for using the laboratory to analyze mold samples.

Our policy at Saulsbury Environmental Inc. is to stick to our area of expertise, home environmental health and safety, which is why we do not perform home inspections, disaster restoration, etc. During our 22 years in the business of environmental testing for real estate transactions, we have come to know who the most qualified, ethical contractors are in those fields in which we are not directly involved, such as home inspections and pest inspections. We can coordinate contractor services for you if you desire a contractor independent of a realtor referral.
